A letter

Bring SIC to your city.

Dear future host,

If you are reading this, you have probably thought — at least once — that your city deserves a room like SIC. A morning where people are intelligent and slow and curious in public. We agree. Most cities deserve one. Almost none have one.

We are looking for city partners to run SIC chapters. You will not be paid to do this. You will not be free, either — chapters cover their costs and the host keeps a share of ticket and membership revenue. But this is not, fundamentally, a business decision. It is a thing you do because the room you want to be in does not yet exist in your city.

What a host actually does

Find a venue once a month. Find a speaker once a month. Sell forty seats. Stand at the door at 9:45 am with coffee. Send the After Thoughts essay afterwards. That is most of the job. Headquarters helps with brand, format, speaker research, and the parts that can be templated.

What we ask

Quality is not a setting we can compromise. The room has to be carefully chosen. The speaker has to be genuinely thoughtful. The Sunday morning rhythm is the same in every city. The rest — local taste, local voice, local guests — is yours.

How we choose hosts

From the four answers in the form below. We do not need a CV. We need to know why you, why your city, and three speakers you already have in mind.

If that sounds like a Sunday you would commit to — write to us.
